Simple Ways To Deal With 3 Common Hair Problems
If you are reading this article, chances are you are “struggling” with your hair on a daily basis. Be it that it gets oily too quickly (hence needs to be washed and styled every single day) or your scalp is constantly itchy, or maybe you lose more hair strands that you think you should, your hair is obviously taking too much of your time.
To make your life easier, we’d like to share with you several simple solutions for 3 of the most common hair problems. Let’s make those locks healthy, strong and manageable!

Dry Scalp/Oily Hair
Almost always, dry scalp and oily hair go hand in hand - the former often leads to the latter. The explanation behind this phenomenon is simple – when your scalp is dry, your skin tries to compensate this by secreting more sebum i.e. your sebaceous glands become hyper active.
What To Do?
The best way to go about dry scalp/oily hair is to try to restore the balance naturally. How? With plant oils! Vegetable oils lubricate the skin and mimic the sebum it naturally produces. Apart from normalizing sebum production, when applied topically natural oil nourish and strengthen the scalp, making your hair stronger and healthier.
Another thing worth mentioning when it comes to oily hair is the fact that most of the shampoos on the market are loaded with strong detergent (primarily sulfates). Harsh detergents dehydrate the scalp and disrupt the normal function of the sebaceous glands i.e. there is no place for them in your bathroom.
Here, there are two things you should do. First, opt for SLS and SLES-free shampoos and second - try to wash your hair every second day, instead of every day (water can also be drying for the scalp). If the situation gets “too greasy”, tie your hair in a ponytail or messy bun and spray some dry shampoo in the roots to “survive” the day. Washing your hair less frequently will help restore the normal function of the sebaceous glands, hence your hair won’t get oily so quickly.
Frizzy Hair
I don’t believe there is a woman on this planet that doesn’t dream of frizz-free hair. As I often say there are many things in life you can avoid, but frizz is not one of them . The reason why our hair gets frizzy lies in the structure of the hair strand. When the outer layer of your hair (the cuticle) is raised, it allows moisture from outside to easily penetrate and expand the hair strand. Things get even worse when your hair is naturally dry, because it attracts even more water.
To make it more visual, you can see this image of damaged/frizzy hair vs. healthy hair .
Some of the bad habits that contribute to your hair being frizzy include:
- abusing thermal styling
- coloring your hair too frequently
- using shampoos formulated with harsh detergents
- using the wrong products or misusing the right ones
What To Do?
Restore the moisture levels of your hair and use products to seal the cuticles, in order to prevent them from rising. If you are looking for all-natural solution, the easiest way to achieve this is again with plant oils! To re-hydrate the hair, apply Argan oil and Coconut oil on the lengths and leave it for at least 2 hours, then wash your hair as usual.
For the ends, go for Jojoba oil – it’s the best split-end sealing & frizz-free serum you can find in nature! Jojoba oil has waxy like structure (think about as “natural silicone”) and lightweight texture. It coats the hair strand, without weighting it down, provides remarkable shine and doesn’t allow humidity to mess up with your gorgeous locks.

Hair Loss
According to experts it’s normal to lose up to 100 hair strands per day – sounds like a lot, but having in mind that the average person has about 100,000, it’s not that much. However, sometimes due to certain external and internal factors, we start losing more hair. The causes can be many, but some of the most common are:
- Hormonal imbalance
- Seasonal changes
- Stress
- Pregnancy
- Hereditary factors
- Anemia
- Rapid weight loss
- Certain medication (antidepressants, blood thinners)
- Aging
- Poor diet
What To Do?
The first thing you need to do is to determine the underlying cause (*this may require seeing a dermatologist). Regardless of the nature of the problem, paying attention to the way you eat is almost always your first step towards strengthening your hair and stopping it from shedding. Vitamins and proteins are essential for growing healthy hair and their optimal intake is crucial for preventing hair loss and hair thinning.

Apart from nourishing your body from within, another thing you need to do, in order to preserve your hair, is to take care of the scalp, because healthy scalp = healthy hair. Regular masks with natural oils (vegetable + essential) will improve microcirculation, balance sebum production, nourish the follicles and improve the overall condition of your scalp. My personal favorite mask is vitamin E + sweet almond oil + argan oil (the last one is optional, but if you have dry scalp I strongly recommend it). Apply it in the roots of the hair, massage gently and leave it for at least 2 hours (preferably, put a plastic cap on top, to warm up the skin and boost the absorption of nutrients). Don’t forget – be persistent and patient. Good thing take time.
