I really don't know where to start... which is probably why it has taken me over a week to get this post written!
Jen, Sarah and I have been hard at work planning the 'Gorgeously Green Gathering' all of this year. I am not exaggerating when I say it was simultaneously the triumph and the most frustrating experience in my blogging career!
I have a huge amount of love and respect for Sarah and Jen so working with them was an exciting prospect and a rewarding experience. Of course we had our moments and I was certainly ready to throw in the towel on more than one occasion but, I think anyone who attended will agree, we all worked hard together to pull off something unique and amazing.
The work involved behind the scenes was monumental and constant from about January onwards. With all three of us having 'day jobs' and other commitments it was hard to always feel motivated about the 'work' involved and to even find a time where we could all be 'online' together to resolve an issue or set up plans.
Putting all that stress behind me I turned up on Sunday morning - with my clipboard - ready and excited for what promised to be an amazing experience. It didn't disappoint. There were lots of nerves but there were also lots of friendly faces and words of encouragement - thank you for that.
The day ran smoothly... To anyone who noticed we went 'off schedule' I'll let you into a secret - that was on purpose at the request of the speaker brands who were worried they wouldn't fill their slot! They needn't of worried as we were all so fascinated by their stories and products that I'm sure each talk could of lasted half a day and still not felt long enough!
I said it on the day but I'll say it again - thanks to each and every single person who came to the event, some of you travelled from a fair distance and we really appreciated that. The effort involved on your part to travel and give up a weekend were not missed by Sarah, Jen and myself.
Thank you to our sponsor brands The Rose Tree and Botanical Brands.
Kim, I love your make up and particularly enjoyed the demo from Ailish (The Glow Getter), not forgetting the expert modelling of Amber (Amber's Beauty Talk). My friend has told me that after YEARS of searching she has finally found a mascara that doesn't smudge and she has apparently spent a fair bit of money on your other products too now! I will certainly be buying that bronzing powder with the nifty little brush so I can carve out my newly discovered cheek bones (watch the vlog to get that joke!)
Olga- your luxurious products and beautiful packaging are really wonderful and I will be placing an order imminently! I think a lot of my friends and family will be getting The Rose Tree gifts from me for Christmas this year!
A huge, huge thank you to our speaker brands.
Weleda sent Caroline to talk to us, she did a great job waking us all up after lunch (again, see vlog) and teaching us about the love and care that goes into the entire process of production at Weleda.
Elijah of Bodhi and Birch- you bought a simultaneously calming and inspiring element to the day. I really enjoyed hearing your stories of 'discovering' your scents through inspiration whilst travelling or walking barefoot through the garden of your beautiful grade 2 listed farm building. Amazing.
Thank you for sharing your exciting news with us, Rachael of Myroo. I can't wait to see your brand grow and go from strength to strength as the UK's only Free From skincare brand. You may of been nervous in our first speaker slot but you blew me away with your story and I barely noticed that knee shaking!!
And finally... saving the best 'til last. Thank you Sarah and Jen. You have both been incredible throughout the whole process.
Sarah you've blown me away with your dedication to making this event incredible and the amount of time you put in to it has been phenomenal. Jen, your calming influence has kept Sarah and I in check at some points of the process and your way with words have provided us with a better way to express ourselves when we needed it.
It's as equally difficult to end this post as it was to start it so I will finish by putting some links below for you to check out in case you want to know more about the day:
