5 Beauty Secrets from Around the World

The Best Natural Beauty Secrets From Around The World

Beauty is subjective. Fact. In some countries, being pale white is attractive, while in others, having a tan is gorgeous. In some places, beautiful blonde hair is what everyone loves, while in others, raven haired beauties stand out. But wherever you are in the world, most (actually, all) women strive for beautiful, healthy looking skin and hair. Let’s treasure hunt around the world for the best kept beauty secrets!

Costa-Rica: Orange Juice

Did you know that oranges are capable of reducing the size of your pores? Not only this - they also increase the production of collagen, keeping the skin looking youthful! Some people mix equal parts of water and fresh orange juice and apply it with a cotton ball onto their skin, leave for a few minutes and rinse off. This homemade toner refreshes the skin and makes the pores less noticeable. Aside from applying orange juice topically, including it in your diet is even better, especially when it comes to reversing (or more like delaying) the aging process.

La Mav Sweet Orange Foaming Cleanser is a balancing facial cleansing gel for oily to combination skin that effectively removes perspiration, makeup, impurities and pollutants. Formulated with Ginseng, Sugar Cane, Orange extract and Papaya extract to purify and exfoliate the outer layer of the skin,  encouraging cell turnover and strengthening the surface of the skin. Regular use helps enhances the appearance of your skin, leaving it  purified, fresh and luminous. Did we mention is also helps prevent the visible signs of aging?

Singapore: Coconut Oil

When I was living in Singapore, I noticed that most women there had super shiny hair. Considering that Singapore is a very humid country, their hair should have been ultra-frizzy?! And yet – their locks were sleek and shiny! Hmm…

Later on I found out that they had a very simple, but super effective recipe for maintaining their hair healthy. Almost every evening, they were applying a few drops of coconut oil and leaving it on during the night. The result – good morning, gorgeous, frizz-free hair!

Note: Always make sure the natural oils you are buying are 100% organic! This is the ultimate guarantee that all of their wonderful properties are fully preserved!

Bulgaria: Rose Water

Rose water is very popular in Bulgaria, not only because there, in the so called Rose Valley, is the home of Rosa damascene. Bulgarian women discovered the magical powers of Rose water decades ago and they still swear by it because it helps them keep their skin healthy and always radiant. Rose water is wonderful for soothing irritations, balancing oily skin, alleviating dryness, preventing eye puffiness and whatnot. Need I say more?

La Mav Rose Hydrating Mist is a gentle alcohol-free toner designed to re-balance your skin’s pH and stimulate the natural radiance with its refreshing and revitalizing properties. Formulated with Rosa damascena (Rose), Jasmine and Geranium essential oils for a calm and soothing effect. Rose Hydrating Mist is perfect for normal, dry, and highly sensitive skin, helping to reduce pore size appearance. Bisabolol and Pro-Vitamin B5 help moisturize and hydrate while removing surface impurities and toxins, as well as help prevent the visible signs of aging.

Morocco: Argan Oil

Argan oil is probably one of the most popular natural plant oils to date but I can assure you, it’s has been named “liquid gold” for a reason! Argan oil can be used on the skin as a moisturizer, because it has impressive water-preserving capacity and anti-aging properties.  During the colder months, I add a few drops of Argan oil to my daily cream - it works like a charm for my dry, dehydrated, flaky skin. Because it is very lightweight, it penetrates with ease and delivers moisture and nutrients to the deepest layers of the skin, where they are most needed.

La Mav's Pure Organic Argan Oil is an intensive nectar with incredible skin healing and anti-aging properties that is rich in vitamins E, F, A and C. Also known as ‘liquid gold’, due to it's rarity, Argon oil helps to reduce irritation, scarring and dehydration. Regular use will reduce redness, scarring, and signs of aging, leaving your skin with a healthy glow!

India: Turmeric

Turmeric is one of India’s most used spices and it’s not just good when added to food, but also great for your skin. There are many ways to use turmeric and you can find tons of great recipes online but today I'll share my personal favorite - a simple, 2-ingredients-only, DIY anti-aging scrub with yogurt.

How to: Mix equal parts of turmeric and yogurt, apply to the skin, leave on until it dries and then scrub gently for a minute or two. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Turmeric is also believed to  reduce dark spots and marks left from healed blemishes, which makes it ideal for people struggling with acne and melasma.
