DIY Face Mask For Rosacea

Homemade Natural Treatment For Rosacea

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disorder that affects both men and women, but it’s 3 times more common in women. According to statistic, approximately 16 million Americans have some form of rosacea, though many are not even aware, since the symptoms, quite often, mimic acne. In most cases the condition presents as redness (similar to rash) spread over the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, accompanied by bumps, similar to acne outbreaks, usually located under the eyes. Since the disorder is poorly understood and the cause is not determined, there is a lot of controversial information all over the internet. While it is true that rosacea is not curable, there are certain things you can do to stop it from progressing and reduce the negative effects it has on your skin and, most importantly, on your self-esteem. Today we’ll share with you a very effective natural way to prevent rosacea outbreaks and to maintain your skin healthy and redness-free!

The Recipe

Mix all ingredients in a small glass cup (preferably one that you can later on close and put in the fridge) using a wooden stick/spoon, until fully homogenized. Usually, with this quantity you will have for at least 2-3 applications.

How To Use The Mask

Apply a thick layer of the mask on your face and start massaging gently. When you massage your face,  you exfoliate the outer layer of dead epidermal cells, allowing the oils to penetrate in depth.

Note: When exfoliating, be careful not to overdo it and don’t rub to hard, because you risk damaging the skin. 2-3 minutes, 2 times a week is enough.

After you are done scrubbing, leave the mixture on your face for at least 15 minutes. Additionally, you can soak a cotton cloth/towel in warm water and put it over your face to enhance the penetration of the oils and to help them do their magic. Once the whole “skin healing ritual” is over, rinse your face with lukewarm water and tap dry with a clean cotton towel.

Note: When placing the towel over your face, make sure that the towel is not too hot, as high temperatures worsen rosacea!

The Benefits

The biggest advantage of Rosehip oil when compared to other natural plant oils is the high amount of Vitamin C it contains. Aside from being a very powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C strengthens the walls of the blood vessels, reducing the amount of broken capillaries, which means: less redness and healthier looking skin. Vitamin C also works as lightening agent and with regular use, significantly improves skin’s clarity. Last but not least, Vitamin C aids in the collagen synthesis and this way restores skin’s elasticity, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Another reason why we worship Rosehip oil is because it is super rich in essential fatty acids (over 70%) and works really well for maintain the integrity of the hydro-lipid barrier of our skin (crucial for keeping it hydrated and protected from external damage)

Tamanu oil, also known as “the natural skin healer” has a specific rich green color and light nutty smell. Rich in fatty acids like linoleic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid, and the not-so-famous, but quite intriguing, callophyllic acid, the oil has a great variety of properties that your skin can benefit from.

It contains antioxidants, coumarine and calophyllolide (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent) which make the green oil apowerful antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and soothing agent, potential enough to suppress bacteria growth and help you deal with breakouts. It’s also well-known for its skin restorative properties (it boosts new tissue formation) which are especially beneficial for people with sensitive skin, dealing with breakouts, irritations, redness and dark spots, left from already healed blemishes.
