5 Home Remedies To Improve Skin's Texture

How To Improve The Texture Of Your Skin Naturally

Though some of us were blessed with baby-soft, smooth skin, sooner or later, environmental damage, aging and excess sun exposure, take a toll on it. If achieving smoother skin is your top skin-goal at the moment and you don’t want to spend tons of cash on fancy salon facials, let us give you a few all-natural alternatives to help you get flawless complexion.

Lemon Juice & Apple Cider Vinegar

Because of their acidity, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar are the perfect natural alternatives of chemical peels. They can be used to deal with post-acne spots/scarring, to eliminate cell build ups and to enhance skin’s clarity. Natural acids mildly exfoliate the outer layer of epidermal cell, smooth out the skin’s surface, even the skin tone and stimulate cell turnover.

Note that since both lemon juice and apple cider vinegar are highly acidic they can alter the normal pH of your skin, which is why they have to be used with caution and always diluted. We recommend starting with 1 part lemon/vinegar, 4 parts water. If your skin doesn’t react with redness/irritation, after 3-4 application, you can change the ration lemon:water.

Homemade Facial Scrubs

Exfoliation is the best and the easiest way to improve the texture of your skin. Regular exfoliation (3 times a week) helps get rid of dead cells that build up on the skin surface, boosts microcirculation, and reduces the appearance of enlarged pores and fine line.

Facial scrubs are definitely a product you can make at home and the variety of recipes you can try out is incredible. Just open  Pinterest, type “DIY scrub” and you’ll be wow-ed by the amount of recipes you’ll see. Below we’ll list a few of our favorite – check them out!

6 Homemade Recipes For Flawless Summer Skin

Honey

There is no doubt that the best natural cocktail of nutrients for your skin is honey. Rich in  potent antioxidants, enzymes and vitamin, honey promotes cell renewal, hydrates in depth, nourishes and reduces inflammation. You can use it either as a scrub, to smooth out the skin surface, or in combination with yoghurt/raw milk as a facial mask. Both yoghurt and milk contain natural acids that  gently exfoliate the skin, without irritating it.

Note: Always buy raw, unpasteurized, organic honey. This way you can be sure that its incredible properties are fully preserved!

Papaya

Apart from its high content of essential vitamins (A,C, E) and minerals, there is one particular enzyme found in the papaya fruit that possesses outstanding  skin lightening and re-texturizing properties. The name of this enzyme is papaya proteinase I, or for short – papain.

Papain accelerates the shedding of dead cells and gently removes impurities, to reveal smoother, evenly toned skin that glows with health. In combination with vitamin C, papain diminishes marks and scars from old blemishes. No wonder papain is one of the most widely used natural enzymes in the skin care industry. You can find it on the ingredient lists of skin-brightening masks,  anti-acne treatments, re-surfacing serums, facial scrub, cleansers, etc.

Note: For maximum benefits, use the peel of the fruit, as it has the highest concentration of papain. Massage it on your face for a minute and rinse off with lukewarm water in 15 minutes. You’ll notice the difference immediately!

Herbal Infusions

Witch hazel, black/green tea, roses, blackberry root and white oak are some of the most potent astringents you can find in nature. Thanks to their tightening effect they do wonders for reducing enlarged pores, hence make your skin smoother and more toned. They constrict the skin naturally, which helps it heal and recover faster (especially beneficial for those who struggle with  post-acne scarring).

Once you prepare the infusion you’ve chosen, you can put it in a spray bottle and use it as facial mist or apply it with a cotton pad, as a toner.

Note: Astringents can have slightly drying effect on the skin, so be careful not to over-use them. Also – don’t forget to apply rich hydrating cream daily, in order to maintain the optimal moisture levels.
