5 Morning Rituals To Start The Day Fresh
Wake up sleepyheads! It is time to start your morning beauty routine. I am not a morning person is no longer an excuse! If you want to look radiant and fresh, you have to get out of the bed. Now.
We are aware that mornings can be truly rushed and hectic, but we also know that a bit of yoga, a quick facial mask or a cup of green tea and fresh juice, can make a huge difference in the way you look and feel during the day. So, are you ready to look your best today, gorgeous? Let’s do it!
Have a Protein Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and protein breakfast is definitely the best type of breakfast you can have. Put down those carb-packed bagels and chocolate-covered donuts, forget about those sugar-heavy cereals and pancakes drenched in maple syrup. Trade them all for eggs and Greek yogurt.
A recent study has shown that women who ate a protein-rich breakfast were better able to maintain their weight and made better dietary choices later in the day. According to statistics, most people eat enough protein during the day, but they usually skip it for breakfast, eat some small amount for lunch, and then have an all-protein dinner. If you want to charge your day with energy, you should reverse the order. Our bodies need to be fuelled at the beginning of the day, and protein is the number one body fuel. Bonus: proteins don’t make you fat, unlike fast carbs.
Have a Glass of Water
When we sleep for 7 to 9 hours (and we all do, because we know how important beauty sleep is, right?), we go without drinking water for quite a long time. This is when dehydration occurs. Dehydration not only makes us feel tired and dreadful, but it also makes our skin look dull and lifeless.
Since you are supposed to drink two liters of water a day anyway, why not start early in the morning? Drinking a tall glass of water as soon as you open your eyes will awake your organism, and refresh both your body and your skin. Some people recommend drinking warm water, others cool. We’d say that it’s a matter of personal preference. The important thing is to actually drink it.
If you do not like the idea of drinking pure water, add some lemon or honey for extra flavor. Or try fruit infused waters – there are many recipes on the internet.
Note for the caffeine lovers: If you drink coffee or green tea in the morning it’s even more important to have at least a glass od water, since the caffeine found in both coffee and green tea has diuretic effect.
Spray Some Face Mist
Do you already have favorite face mist? If not, you should find one immediately! We promise it will turn into your new Holy Grail beauty item! Facial mists are awesome!
It can be rose water, lavender water or DIY herbal infusion of choice. Keep it in the fridge and spray it on your face first thing in the morning. It’s very effective against both sleepiness and morning puffiness.
If you use the right facial mist for your skin type it has the potential to soothe irritated and sensitive skin, balance and cleanse oily skin, rejuvenate mature skin, and soften, tone and revitalize normal/combo skin.
Our personal favorite is Rose water (or mist infused with Rosa Damascena) . Rose water contains anti-oxidants and vitamins that prevent premature aging. It eliminates dullness, hydrates in depth and has the incredible power to illuminate your skin instantly. Did we mention it smells divine?
La Mav's Rose Hydrating Mist is a gentle alcohol-free toner, designed to re-balance your skin’s pH and stimulate the natural radiance with its refreshing and revitalizing properties. Formulated with Rosa damascena (Rose), Jasmine and Geranium essential oils for a calm and soothing effect, the Rose Hydrating Mist is perfect for normal, dry, and highly sensitive skin, helping to reduce pore size appearance. Bisabolol and Pro-Vitamin B5 help moisturize and hydrate while removing surface impurities and toxins, as well as help prevent the visible signs of aging.
Exercise
No more snoozing! Studies suggest that people who set aside some time in the morning for a quick workout get better (beauty) sleep at night. Besides, is there anything else other than workout that can give you irresistible radiant appearance and healthy glow? Exercise boosts circulation, helps control body mass, and prevents health issues. All of this translates into beautiful skin.
At first, it might be hard for you to get up, but there are ways to trick yourself into adopting new habits, that seem more like torture (especially when you are dying to have 5 extra minutes under the sheets). Try putting your alarm clock at the other end of the bedroom. Simple and effective. It will make you get up even against your will. Once you get used to it and you start noticing the results, you will not see it as a torture anymore.
Apply SPF
You have heard this one a thousand times before, but we feel that it should be repeated over and over again: apply sunscreen every day of the year regardless of the weather. Even on days when the sun is hiding behind thick clouds, the UV rays reach the surface of the Earth. They penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin, damaging it from within which later leads to the called “photo aging”.
When applying sunscreen, do not neglect your lips, neck, the area around your eyes, and the backs of your hands. If you are concerned about the health risks of certain chemicals used in the formulation of sunscreens, look for products that contain Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide.
If after all this you have a spare minute, stand in front of the mirror, smile and tell yourself that you are pretty. Now, go and be your best self!
